Call For Torch Relay Volunteers A Huge Success!! Langley, BC. If response to our need for volunteers to help on February 8th when the Olympic Torch Relay comes to Langley is any indication activities that day should be well supported according to organizers of the local events. Within the last couple of weeks we have been contacted by so many people we are filled and have a backup list! says Langley Spirit of BC Executive Director Shirley Stewart. We're in the process of following up with folks to re-confirm their commitment and assign their tasks. Armed with information from sites across Canada that have already had the Olympic Torch Relay come through town, Langley organizers are able to fine tune the responsibilities and requirements for their volunteers. While February 8th seems so far away, we are really appreciative of being able to learn from others what works best and what we might want to tweak to suit our site. continued Stewart. Initially it was recommended that Langley recruit approximately 30 volunteers, however that number has increased in some areas, but the supply of willing Langley residents still is greater than the demand. It's a wonderful situation for organizers to be in and Stewart hopes that this enthusiasm and experience will continue to build as the Township of Langley prepares to host the 2010 BC Summer Games in July 2010. Information regarding the activities that will be taking place on February 8th can be found on the Township of Langley website and will be featured early in 2010 in the local media.
