Langley Spirit Wins Third Prize in Provincial Photo Contest!

Langley, BC.  As part of the Spirit of BC Week 2009 celebrations, the Show Your Spirit photo contest once again invited Spirit of BC community committees from across British Columbia to show their spirit by finding innovative ways to display the Spirit of BC logo.

Communities were encouraged to display the logo on a town fixture (i.e., building or water tower) or develop a unique art project that creates a gigantic Spirit of BC logo. The possibilities are limited only by a communitys imagination.

Each Spirit of BC community committee was asked to take a picture of their creative idea and send it to 2010 Legacies Now, where the pictures were judged for originality and innovativeness.

The Langley Spirit of BC Committee submitted several photos to this years contest which received entries from all over the province and received word that one of their entries has won third prize!

Each winning community receives money to use towards a future Spirit of BC sponsored event.  The third place prize is $200.

The winning photo was taken by Lori Watts after the 1 Year Countdown event held at Willowbrook Shopping Centre.  She went home with a set of bam bams given out at the event to make noise at 6:00 and her dog Parker picked one up and was carrying it around the house.  He sat and posed when she got her camera out and the photo says the rest!  He still has his bam bam minus a bit of air, but the cat made short work of the other one!

Langley, BC. Volunteer Langley provides local non-profit organizations and event planners with the opportunity to find valuable volunteers to assist them with programs and events.

"Volunteer Langley has taken an important step forward in serving the community." says Langley Spirit of BC Executive Director Shirley Stewart.  "For several months now we have worked to create an entity which will help both local organizations and volunteers - but now we have a official "brand" that will help us be more easily recognized!"

"We have people in Langley looking to volunteer and we certainly have groups needing their energies and skills. By connecting with Volunteer Langley - you are raising your hand and saying you want to help or need the assistance."
